Tasnim - Iran football coach Carlos Queiroz said to gain three points against India is very important for them as they want to finish the group stage as the winner.
Iran will host India on Thursday in Group D of the 2018 World Cup qualifier in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
“We need three points against India since we want to maintain our place in the table,” Queiroz said.
“On Thursday, We want to put on a good show at home and get the three points against India. I know so many Iranian fans are celebrating Nowruz at the moment but I thank the fans who will come to support us in the match against India,” the Portuguese added.
Iran will also play Oman on March 29.
Team Melli top Group D with 14 points, three points ahead of Oman.
India sits at the bottom of the group with three points.
