Tehrantimes - Former Foolad and Sepahan coach Hossein Faraki believes that the Isfahani club could have done better if he was still in charge.

Faraki parted company with Sepahan by mutual consent in the 11th week of Iran Professional League (IPL) but the Isfahani-based team has got poor results with its new coach Igor Stimac, wining just one game out of nine.

“I won the IPL title with Sepahan last year but the condition changed a lot for this season and I decided to leave the club although I left Sepahan by mutual consent. The team’s success is the priority so I decided to step down after I found out I cannot help the club. After 10 weeks under the new coach, Sepahan is not still back on track as I believe the team could have done better if I were still in charge,” Faraki told reporters.

Faraki, who was Branko Ivankovic assistant in Team Melli for more than four years, believes that the Croat is the key to Persepolis success in the recent weeks.

“I know Branko very well. He is not only a great coach but also a very nice person. He has the knowledge of European football and with a good squad which is a mix of young and experienced players he could win the league title this season,” Faraki added.
