MNA - Iranian athletes at the 2nd World Artists 7-Man Football Match managed to obtain a 7-nil victory over Japanese rivals.

On the second day of the tournament, Iran played against Japan at Stadium of Iranian Champion Takhti of Iran's southern Qeshm Island where the Iranian squad brought Japan to their knees with a 7-nil victory.

Mahdi Salehpour executed a hat-trick, Mehdi Shiri collected a brace while Mohammad Navazi and Pourkarimi got on the score sheet for the Iranian team.

Previously, Iran had subdued Hungary 4-nil to confirm its entry to the next round of the event.

The Iranian outfit is scheduled to meet Turkey today at their third encounter.

Hosted by Qeshm Island in Iran and comprised of teams from 12 countries, the second World Artists 7-Man Football Match kicked off on Saturday evening February 13 and will continue until February 19.

Qeshm is the largest island in the Persian Gulf, with rocky coastlines that protects a mountainous and often beautiful interior.

The first World Artists 7-Man Football Match was held in February 2015 in Tehran.
